The decision to leave behind the familiarity of my home state and start fresh wasn’t easy. But it opened the door to growth, perspective, and a path I never expected.
Back in 2018, I was running a thriving real estate business in Albuquerque. I’d built a team of 14 agents, and we’d just come off a year where we sold 112 homes. On paper, things looked great. But life was shifting. My wife and I had just welcomed our first child, and all of a sudden, the city didn’t align with the life we wanted for our family.
That realization forced a tough decision. Professionally, I was in the best position I’d ever been. But personally, I knew we needed a change. We had always talked about raising our kids close to grandparents, and New England—where my wife’s family is—just made sense. So we made the leap. I stayed connected to my team from a distance, promoted a team leader, and traveled back quarterly to stay involved. But if we were going to put down real roots, I had to fully immerse myself in our new community and be open to whatever came next.
Real estate has been a part of my life for a long time. My dad got into the business when I was a kid, and I watched him build it from the ground up. He worked hard, but he also made time for us—coaching Little League, taking us camping, and just being a present Dad. That balance stuck with me. I got licensed in 2001 while in college and, after graduation, jumped into real estate full-time and never looked back.
When I met my wife, Elizabeth, everything changed. Funny enough, she had been set up on a blind date with my brother. Throughout the night, it was clear there was chemistry between us. We ended up dating, and the rest is history—my brother even ended up being the best man at our wedding. She set me on a different trajectory, with more focus and intention behind the things I do.
Once we were in New England, I dug deep, focusing on how to make this work. Real estate is a relationship business, so my top priority was meeting people—which also helped with the transition personally. I joined the Chamber of Commerce, a country club, and showed up at local events. I took every opportunity I could to connect. Over time, those efforts turned into real momentum and helped me rebuild my own business from the ground up.
In this new chapter, I’ve also focused heavily on self-improvement. That started with rebuilding professionally, but eventually, it led to some personal changes as well. After a falling out with a family member, I decided to quit drinking. I was never a heavy drinker, just a social one—but I knew I needed clarity. It’s been two years now, and that one decision opened the door to a different kind of growth. I’ve met people on their own journeys and seen the power of what’s possible when you’re willing to do the work. I’m focused on being a better husband, father, and leader.
Now, I lead my own real estate team, The Coastline Collective, and in 2024, had my best year yet! Starting over in a brand-new market took time, patience, and a willingness to step into the unknown—but it also revealed new strengths and created space for some incredible opportunities.
Most importantly, I’ve done it without losing sight of what matters most. My wife and three kids, Henry, Everly, and Bernadette (Birdie) will always be my priority. We love where we live, stay involved with our kids’ school, spend as much time as we can at the beach, and support our community however we can. Life looks different than it did back in Albuquerque, but we’re exactly where we’re meant to be.
With over 20 years in the industry, I’ve built a career around helping people make confident, informed decisions during some of the biggest transitions of their lives—and I love it! Whether it’s buying a first home, selling one they’ve outgrown, or relocating to start fresh like we did, I love being part of those pivotal moments. It’s challenging, but rewarding—earning trust, solving problems, and guiding people through a process that can feel overwhelming. I care deeply about the people I work with and take pride in helping them move forward with confidence.
From start to finish, I take a hands-on approach. We don’t just put a sign in the yard—my team and I handle every detail to take as much stress off our clients’ shoulders as possible. We’re involved in every step, whether that’s helping a seller find and manage painters, cleaners, stagers, and photographers, and helping evaluate offers, or guiding a buyer through financing, home tours, strategy, negotiations, and inspections. We’re not afraid to get our hands dirty either and help with the heavy lifting (literally!).
Through every phase, we focus on reducing stress, adding value, and making sure our clients feel supported, informed, and confident.
Sincerely,
Travis Billingham
